A true renaissance man, Dr White was one of a family of seven kids who grew up on a potato farm in Wicklow. He attended high school in Bath, which to get to he had to paddle a canoe across the river in the summer, or ski across the frozen ice during the winter.

Upon his graduation, his family recognized his tremendous potential and intellect, and he went on to attend “normal school” in Fredericton where he studied to become a teacher.
He returned to Carleton County and taught for several years before joining the Royal Canadian Air Force.

He became a Squadron Leader when he was in the RCAF and every month would send half his pay cheque home to his mother. His mother did not use the money, however, she saved it up presented it to Lee when he returned home.

He became a beloved dentist for many years to the community, finally retiring from practice at age 74. He didn’t retire from life itself, however! His agile mind and curiosity about the universe kept him actively learning and finding new avenues for his creativity as the years passed.

He began making violins, and taught himself how to play the instrument at age 78. Ultimately, he hand crafted over 90 violins, making many for local children.

At age 80 he tackled the computer, once again teaching himself the skills needed to operate this technology.
