Bee keeping workshop

Want to learn more about bees and beekeeping? Falls Brook Centre in Knowlesville will be hosting a two part Bee Keeping Workshop.

Part one will be on Saturday, August 24th and part two will be held on October 5th. Both workshops will run 1-5 pm.

Falls Brook Centre offers a wealth of information, knowledge and hands on experiences to folks who want to leave a low carbon footprint and practice more sustainable lifestyles.

As corporations continue to run amok as they pollute and destroy the planet, the folks at Falls Brook Centre are practicing a way of life that is in harmony with the natural world.

The bee keeping workshop will help participants explore the joy of interacting with and learning from a hive of bees!

The workshop will be facilitated by resident bee keeper Greg Lynch, who arrived at Falls Brook a year ago.

Greg is the Education and Renewable Energy Coordinator and his interest in bees started at home, where he kept bees with his parents.

He will teach you the basics of how bees live and reproduce while producing honey and wax for our use.
You will learn about:

  • Natural and artificial structure of a hive
  • The life cycle of bees
  • Evaluating the health of a hive
  • Discussion on varied beekeeping strategies
  • Practice identifying worker, drone and queen bees plus pollen, honey and brood

The cost to attend the workshop is $5 per person or $12 per family.
Bring your hood, gloves and beekeeping tools if you have them!
