Jennifer Eagan and her mother Sharon had always wanted to provide a seniors assisted living facility for their community. They felt that there was need for this kind of housing in this area.
The Eagans remodelled the former school board building at 566 East Riverside Drive in Perth-Andover into a beautiful complex of 10 small apartments, with an apartment for Jennifer at the back, and opened in July of 2007.

These are lovely living quarters with a social venue provided for the residents. Each apartment is fully furnished with its own kitchen, but if residents choose they may attend a common meal at lunch and socialize in the family atmosphere.
Jennifer does most of the cooking for these daily meals, and it has now become traditional for Jennifer and her family to gather at the Villa for all holiday family dinners and celebrations and to include all residents in the festivities.

All the holidays are celebrated here, with occasional live music jam sessions to spice life up. There are dances and regular card games… as the residents have gotten to know each other the complex has evolved into a real community of friends and neighbours.

The Villa suffered major damage during the infamous flood of 2012. Although Jennifer and Sharon had just a little over an hour’s warning, all the residents were safely evacuated to high ground before the flood inundated the building.

The Villa is a pet friendly apartment complex, and several residents own pets. Ruth Eagan left her two cats behind during the evacuation, as no one realized how high and destructive this flood was to be.
As the waters rose, it became obvious that the cats needed to be evacuated as well.

Jason Dube, Nathan Pirie and Dale Tomkins of the PAFD rode to the rescue in a life boat and safely retrieved the terrified kitties from their hiding places on shelves in the closet.
They still live with Ruth at the Villa!

The building had close to 2 feet of water on the main floor and was closed for repairs for two months.
These apartments offer the perfect compromise for people who want an independent home, but would like the security of having help and assistance if needed close at hand.
The apartments include all the amenities: Laundry facilities, cable TV, Scheduled shopping trips, an on site hair salon, and a security system.
If residents request, they may also get day and night checks and medication reminders

If you are interested in viewing these apartments you may check them out online at www.victoriavilla.ca or call Jennifer at 273-9394 to arrange a visit.
