On Sunday, June 8th St Mary of the Angels celebrated the 25th anniversary of the building that was erected after the flood of 1987 inundated their former church on West Riverside Drive.

Bishop Emeritus Gerard Dionne, who is now 95 years old, told us “Before that historic flood, there had been plans to enlarge the former church… but then the flood spoke and told us that this was not the place.”

Hubert St Thomas Sr donated a ten acre site on which the new church was erected, with the construction work being finished in June of 1989.

The church was built with the generous donations of money, material, pledges, volunteer labour and fund raising efforts not to mention the prayers of many people!

The 25th Blessing Event featured a lovely sit down luncheon and celebration of the achievements of church members and supporters, truly a moment to appreciate and reflect on our community!
