Perth-Andover Arts & Crafts Centre
A Look at a Local Business
Spring is definitely in the air so the artisans of the Arts & Crafts Centre are keeping a close eye on the river in case they need to evacuate the store….but in the meantime, the store has started to extend its hours for the season.
You can now drop in Wednesday through Saturday to check out all the great hand crafted items made by our many local talented artists and musicians!
New artisans have joined the co-op recently, further expanding the selection of great gifts and useful household items.
And, don’t miss the little in store thrift shop …the déjà vu room in the back.
The store carries all of Matt Andersen’s CDs, including his very latest release “Weightless”, along with CDs by many other local musicians.
John and Paula Carmont of Mt. Pleasant make crafts for their Lilac Meadows Primitives. Don’t want to buy plastic junk toys for your kids? Check out the neat selection of hand made wooden toys. Paula also crochets a sweet selection of children’s hats.
Catherine Trudel of Perth makes a fantastic array of natural lotions, potions and soaps. Her hand made line of Reve Maxeville body care products are available at the store, with testers supplied so you can try the products for yourself first.
There are many beautiful original, one of a kind paintings in a variety of mediums by local artists on display. Maj Gagnon paints on rocks as well as paper, and you can commission her to paint a picture of your pet on a rock. She’ll take a favourite photo and render it onto a rock for just $40!
During my latest visit to the store I was amused by the little hand- made baby bags, crafted by Charlene Lesard-Cote of Bear Crafts in Richmond Corner. These bags hold a baby aged 0 to 3 months old, and come with a matching hat that is crocheted into the face of a cute critter, such as a monkey.
If you are looking for unique and personal gift to give for any occasion, support local artists and creativity by shopping at the Arts & Crafts Centre!
