Victoria County SPCA Fur Tree Winner
The Victoria County SPCA Annual Fur Tree fundraiser turned out to be a big winner for both the shelter and the person who held the winning ticket!
Ticket sales provided much needed funds to help care for the animals at the shelter. The Fur Tree Grand Prize this year was $495 worth of gift certificates that had been donated by 18 generous local small businesses.
SPCA representatives sold the Fur Tree tickets at tables set up at various local businesses in the weeks before Christmas. In addition hosting the fundraiser in their lobby during one week, the Perth-Andover branch of ScotiaBank also magnanimously offered to match whatever total the ticket sales reached during that week.
At the end of the week, when the final tally was in, $450 worth of Fur Trees tickets had been sold in the bank’s lobby, to which ScotiaBank matched the funds by adding another $450 to reach a grand total of $900 much needed dollars for the animal shelter!
To acknowledge this generous gesture, the draw to pick the Fur Tree Gift Certificate winner was held in the ScotiaBank lobby on December 16th.
Jonathan Gagnon was innocently doing some banking and was promptly shanghaied to perform the draw…and the lucky winner was Karen Elliot of Plaster Rock.
Congratulations to Karen and thanks to everyone who purchased a ticket and a big thanks to all the businesses that donated to the cause to help our homeless pets!
