Southern Victoria Historical Museum
I stopped in at the SV Historical Museum recently to take a look around at all the wonderful artefacts and memorabilia from days gone by.
If you haven’t visited this local museum, pop in some day to take a trip through yesteryear.
Many local people have donated items to the museum over the years. There are lots of old photos, documents, high school and graduation photographs.
Agriculture and manufacturing used to be the mainstays of our economy back in the day, so the museum has many old tools and farm implements.
The original organ from the old church is still there, and it even manages to squeak out a few notes after all these years!
Victoria Bell has been the hostess and guide at the museum this year, and Katrina Barclay just recently joined her. They take care of the exhibits, keep an eye on the relics and help folks find their way around.
But there’s a lot there….and there are a number of old mystery gadgets that no one knows what they were used for.
If you know what that thingamajiggy is in that photo to the left, please let us know!
There are some scary looking mystery medical instruments that we’ll be looking into in the future as well…stay tuned!
Stop in and get acquainted with our local history some day!
