Another DunRoamin’ Success Story!
Thelma came to DunRoamin’ from a bad situation. In all likelihood, Thelma
was a puppy mill female. Her life was horrible with no love or contact from any one person who saw her for what she was and should be. Thelma was very thin, with matted, filthy fur. Her teeth were in very bad shape which resulted in her losing them. She was timid and very nervous around people.
As you can see by the letter, Thelma found a perfect place. After a terrible start in life, Thelma found there were caring people in the world –
DunRoamin’ Stray and Rescue and her new, wonderful adoptive family.
Thank you, for taking our beautiful Thelma and giving her the home she
deserves.
Letter from Thelma’s new mom:
Little Thelma is doing wonderful, she is my little best friend for sure. She sure figured out fast how things work by following the lead of my big black lab,Alex. Alex always rides in the car with me and I just say “load up” and he’s in. I would tell Thelma to load up and at first she went around the car, under the car, everywhere but in the car….ha! So then she figured out “load up” means we are going for a ride. At first she jumped on the floor in the back seat and stayed there but she wasn’t long figuring out that you jump on the floor first, then on the seat. Now if I put my splash pants on or my boots or touch my keys, she is ready, spinning around in circles, can’t wait for the door to open.
She is a little butter ball, can’t count the bones on her dear little spine or ribs anymore. She has gained about 2 lbs. She follows me everywhere so my son nicknamed her Shadow. When I first had her I was afraid to lose her so I would be talking and then OMG! Panic…… where’s Thelma, and people would say, just turn around, you are going to step on her. She still has a fear of being in front, and I can only imagine why. She was pooping and peeing in the house at first, but by following Alex every morning and then going out when I got home and 2 or 3 times in the evening, she soon figured out what it means when I say “let’s go guys…. pee and poop!”
All my family just love her. I had a lot of company on my daughter’s birthday, but she didn’t seem to mind. The only thing that seems to bother her is fast movements, but she will get over that too. She is playful now outside and is starting to be playful in the morning with me. At least now her little tail is in the air and not tucked under her back legs, that broke my heart but that is in the past and her life is so good now.
She sleeps next to me in her bed with her blankets and her lamb chop, on my big chair pulled right up to me so I can touch her. I put soft, soothing music on every night and we drift off. Sometimes I wake up in the night and I look at her. She is sleeping upside down or completely wrapped in the blankets, she does that herself. She is so frigging CUTE!
My son built her a little dog house for inside. I am going to paint it like my primitive furniture and decorations. She likes being under stuff and usually goes under my chair when I watch TV or under my bed if I am in the shower or whatever. I want her to have her own space, so when I am not home she has a safe covered place to lie in and wait for me to get home.
I love my little animals with all my heart, little Muffin cat, little Thelma dog and Big Alex dog. In the evenings we are all in my small den, little cat is asleep on top on her little house, Alex is crashed in front of the fireplace and Thelma is usually under my chair or sometimes next to me. They are well taken care of, just ask Shannon.
I will send you some pictures soon.
Thank you for checking on Thelma, thank you for rescuing her, and thank you for trusting me with her.
