Rossignol & Son Welding & Hydraulic
Last year, after the flood in Perth, as part of the repair and renovation in his store Hector at BMR Hardware got a fabulous new work station in his store.
The shiny and eye catching textured aluminium desk and storage unit is a custom metal job crafted by Mike Rossignol of Aroostook.
I have admired this functional and flashy sculpture ever since I first saw it and wanted to meet the craftsman who made it.
I drove to Aroostook earlier this week and met Mike and his son, 11 year old Kolby at their shop.
Mike opened this garage in 2006 but has worked in the welding, hydraulic and mechanical fields for the past 20 years.
He worked at Thomas equipment for 5 years, then transferred to Thomas Grand Falls for another 2 years before opening his own business.
His field of expertise is in heavy equipment repair & welding, and custom trailer manufacturing. He is licensed through the government for all of this work.
His portfolio of custom trailers and equipment blades that he has built from scratch is truly impressive!
Mike can create any custom metal work you might need.
Remember when kids used to be able to take shop classes in high school? We need more crafts people like this who produce actual goods.
Kolby is apprenticing to learn the trade and business from his Dad by helping out on various jobs. He has helped to put the trailers together by screwing the decking onto the frames and is enthusiastic about the craft and trade he is learning by experience. He looks forward to the day when he is a master craftsman himself!
