Wee little Bistro 221 in Plaster Rock offers up cozy and classy ambiance, delicious food, desserts, coffee and teas at their establishment.

I stopped in a few days ago to grab a bite of lunch and a cappuccino and chatted awhile with my hostess, owner Paula Harding.
Paula and her sister Jennifer Comeau opened the Bistro in 2008. Paula had previously cooked for 23 years at Dyer’s Hunting Camp and decided to take the great plunge into opening her own business.

The Bistro is very charming and intimate, with only 6 tables. I love the place because these tables have a shelf underneath offering a selection of reading materials for diners. Very nice if you’re alone and have forgotten to bring a book to read while you enjoy your lunch!
It is quite an interesting selection of magazines, too…with both chatty women’s magazines available along with Mother Earth News and National Geographic!

And I had to chuckle at the notice posted in the washroom: “We love kids but please keep yours at your table. Unattended children will be given a shot of espresso and a puppy.”

The Bistro encourages loitering! WiFi is available, so bring your laptop and work in peace with a good cup of coffee.

The restaurant is open Monday-Friday, 8 am-2 pm. The menu offers a variety of build your own omelettes, grilled paninni sandwiches, wraps, salads, crepes, Flatza Pizzas, home made soup, French Onion soup, croissant & ciabatta sandwiches and luscious desserts.

You may eat inside or order at their handy and popular drive up window. Stop in to say hi soon!
