The Royal Canadian Legion hosted a lovely dinner and award ceremony on Friday night to recognize the community work and contributions of Rod MacIntosh and Mike Allen.
They were recipients of the Paul Harris Award, the Rotary Club’s highest honour.

Pat Perry, a Rotary member and multiple Paul Harris Award winner from Miramichi, presented the awards to Mike and Rod.

Paul Harris was the remarkable man who created the Rotary Club in 1905. He was a man of vision who believed that you do not really live in a community unless you give something back to it. He lived by that creed and the award that is named for him is given to honour our fellow citizens who give of their time and energy to uplift our communities.

Paul Harris had a passion for the betterment of his fellow man. The Rotary Club that he created embodies the philosophy of Service Above Self and exemplifies ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

And, he believed that the greatest good for communities comes from the combined efforts of its citizens, indeed, the power of combined effort knows no limitations!

Rod and Mike certainly live by this creed. They have both given generously of their time and talents to our community, and we would be poorer today if not for their vision and committed efforts on our behalf!
