We are lucky to be blessed with three grocery stores in our village. Our old Co-Op was reborn as a Foodland in October of 2011. Managed by Greg Stone, the store is constantly working to make improvements and additions to goods and services. During a recent visit to the store, Greg pointed out some terrific images that are hanging in the store. Greg had browsed through the old photo collection at the Perth-Andover Public Library and had chosen some of the most memorable historical photos of our area and had them blown up into fabulous 3 foot by 6 foot posters.

The next time you’re in the store, be sure to check out these great old photos on display around the store, celebrating our history and heritage!

All of our local businesses support a variety of charities, both local and national. Foodland is currently sponsoring “Toonies for Tummies.” This Sobey’s charity is an Atlantic Province initiative that helps to support needy kids in all of our Atlantic Provinces. February is also Heart and Stroke Month, and March is Muscular Dystrophy month. Foodland employs 25 local residents, jobs that constitute a significant contribution to our local economy.

All of our local markets are open to local suppliers, and Foodland is no exception. Local produce will be available during growing season again, and right now the store carries Corey Crawford’s wonderful raw, unpasteurized honey, Todd Nissen’s local potatoes, and the Blackfly Gazette.

Foodland features an in- store bakery, offering up a variety of fresh baked goods daily. Try one of the take and bake pizzas sometime….they are loaded with goodies! There is also a large gluten free section,. If you’re looking for something and don’t see it, just ask….

Manager Greg Stone says, “At the end of the day we’re here to help people. If you don’t see it on our shelves, by all means ask us! We’ll try our best to get the products you ask for.”

The store is located on Fred Tribe Road and is open Mon-Wed 8-8, Thur & Fri 8-9, Sat 8-8 and Sundays 11-6.

Stop in soon to check out those old photos while you do your shopping!
