The boys from Perth were celebrating on December 14th when they finally won their very first banner at the Hartland Covered Bridge Classic Mini Boys Championship Tournament!

The SV Mini Basketball league was begun in Perth-Andover in 2003 by Reta Kelley, who wanted to bring this program to the village so her own kids could play the game.

The girl’s team scored early victories, winning banners two years in a row. During 2005 and 2006 their team was undefeatable!

And now, the boys are thrilled to have taken their first championship banner. The tournament was held on December 13 & 14. The Mini Vikings won the banner over 3 games. The first game they defeated Hartland 56 to 37, the second game was a close one but they squeaked past Canterbury with a score of 56 to 55, and then the boys clinched the banner with a handy win over Grand Falls.

Volunteer coaches are still needed for this league, and you don’t need experience, just a desire to help our kid’s sports programs! There is plenty of support available to aspiring coaches. To get involved…Call Reta for more information!
