oregano oilCold and flu season is upon us once again. It seems like this time of year there are all kinds of noxious plagues going around for us to get walloped by, whether it’s just a minor case of the sniffles to getting laid out for a couple of weeks by something more virulent.

There are many kinds of over the counter cold and flu medicines to help alleviate symptoms once you’re sick, but what if you could knock that impending cold or infection right out of your system as soon as you start feeling poorly?

I personally always keep a bottle handy….although I am out right now as I gave my bottle to my sister in law Reta while I was recently camped out in her basement as my house got moved.

One morning I came upstairs to find her hunched over her laptop sniffling and sneezing. She was wound up in a blanket like a mummy and was losing her voice. She felt horrible but had too much to do….going back to bed was not an option!
I dashed back downstairs to retrieve the oil of oregano I’d packed in my “medicine box.” She looked a little dubious but tried it anyway….and by that evening she could speak normally and she felt completely well within two days.

Then one of her sons started to get sick…he was on the couch in total misery with muscle aches and pains. He took several doses and was back on his feet by the next day.

Oil of oregano can stop a bladder infection in its tracks. Ladies especially will know how awful one of these infections can be. And, they have a way of sneaking up on one at night or on the weekend, when you can’t get to a doctor!
But in my own experience, if I take a few drops of oil of oregano with lots of water it can offer almost immediate relief from the discomfort of a bladder infection.

When coming down with some kind of infection or illness take 5 drops in a shot of water or juice 2-3 times a day for several days.
There’s lots of information online explaining the many various health issues oil of oregano can help relieve and the method and frequency of doses that are best.

Oil of oregano is available in both capsules and liquid form. The liquid version is more economical, but be prepared….it doesn’t taste good! In no way, shape or form does it taste like the oregano you use to cook with!

There are many brands to choose from, but the higher the percentage of carvacrol the stronger its anti-microbial effects. Solutions with a higher percentage will cost more and it is usually priced at around $18-35 per oz.
