Happy New Year Again!

From the editor….

Year-of-horseIf you forgot to make resolutions at the beginning of the year, or have already broken any resolutions you made, you can have a second chance with the start of the Chinese New Year!

According to the Chinese Zodiac, on Friday, January 31st we leave the year of the Snake and begin a new year of the Horse.
A Horse year is a time of unexpected adventure, travel and romance. Decisive action brings victory in a Horse year, and in Chinese astrology, Horse year is considered a fortunate year that brings luck and good things.
Horse energy is free spirited, wild, wilful and independent, so take a leap and fly this year!

The next celebration is of course Valentine’s Day. Enjoy a nice, romantic dinner with someone special or friends at one of our local fine dining restaurants… Shirley at the 878 Bistro has a magic touch when it comes to seasonal decorating. Her lovely and creative Valentine’s décor sets the perfect mood for enjoying a fine meal!

The Castle Inn will be serving a special 4 course dinner during Valentine’s week, February 12-16. You can pick up a lovely floral arrangement for the occasion from The Flowerpot or Hoyt’s Flowers and Gifts that will knock the socks off the lucky recipient, too! And, don’t forget a nice gift or gift certificate ….

Winter Carnival is coming up. A few days ago I visited the Civic Centre to meet the Miss Perth-Andover Pageant contestants, and to take a group photo of the young ladies. As I was leaving the building, and was coming down the stairs from the recreation room, Dave and Kris Gallagher had just finished a hockey practice and were heading out the front door.
They saw me coming, so they stopped and politely held the door open for me. I was at an awkward distance, you know, still on the stairs. I was really far enough behind them that they could have gone on their way without holding the door, and I would not have felt the least bit slighted, but now they were committed so they waited patiently while I got myself down the stairs.

When you find yourself in this situation, just what is the proper protocol? I had on big snow boots, so I couldn’t really hustle, and that’s not the point anyway, is it? You hold the door open for someone but you don’t expect them to run so you don’t have to wait any longer than necessary….

Anyway, I was laughing by the time I got to them and we began a conversation hashing out this very issue. Holding the door open for the people behind you can be kind of a tricky business!
What is the proper distance? What’s the cut-off distance between polite and impractical for holding doors open? If the person is too far behind, you’ll be standing there for a while with that darn door, and they might feel compelled to rush….which puts the burden on them!

On the other hand, you don’t want to slam the door in their face. As I began exploring the many facets and implications of door holding etiquette and protocol, Dave and Kris looked at me and said they felt like they were having a Seinfeld conversation.

As usual, the world is getting stranger by the minute. I am personally convinced beyond a doubt that the US Government (among others) has been playing footsie with extra-terrestrial beings for quite some time, which they have then, of course as we all know, lied through their teeth about to the public. It’s all swamp gas!

But maybe 2014 will finally be the year for Disclosure. In the weird news department, former Clinton Chief of Staff and UFO disclosure advocate John Podesta was just named as President Obama’s newest advisor.
Podesta has more than once publicly urged the US government to release their classified UFO files, and it looks like his appointment may be a step towards making a public announcement about UFO reality.

Canada’s own former Minister of Defense Paul Hellyer has been on the record for years for calling for truth and disclosure from our governments. Hellyer has said that there are up to 80 different races of beings that have been in contact with the government.

In recent years, in fact, hundreds of high ranking whistleblowers have come forth to confirm that yes, UFOs are real, the technology is real, and that in fact certain branches of the military work with extraterrestrials … but it just doesn’t make the evening news!

So, keep your eyes peeled for Disclosure in 2014! And stay warm and love yourself this Valentine’s Day!
