Victoria County SPCA Update

Adoptions are the most important way you can help your local animal shelter, particularly at this time of year. Ginger and Melissa are just two of the lovely cats we have who are looking for good homes. Since the Victoria County SPCA is a no kill shelter, we need to make room for the many animals that will be in need of a safe, warm place this winter.

In order to help achieve this, the adoption fee for cats has been reduced to $75.00 until the end of September. All of the cats are spayed or neutered, have been vaccinated and treated for parasites. If you have room in your life for a new pet, this fee is a bargain price to pay as it actually costs far more than that for the vet visits, vaccines, spay or neuter fees, travel time and gas!

The Victoria County SPCA is now open for adoptions seven days a week. Shelter hours are Monday through Friday 10-1, Saturday 11-3 and Sunday 11-2. If these hours are not convenient, please call the shelter at 356-1117 to make an appointment.
The greatest need at the shelter continues to be volunteers. Anyone having a few hours a week to help out would be greatly appreciated. Please contact the shelter if you are interested. Other needs include items such as bleach, cat food, kitty litter, wood pellets, laundry soap and of course, monetary donations for which a tax receipt will be issued. These items can be dropped at the Yard Sale store or the shelter.

The SPCA Yard Sale store located at 252A Main Street, Plaster Rock (formerly Blue Mountain Pharmacy) will remain open until the end of November (weather permitting). The store hours are Friday and Saturday 9—3pm. Anyone wishing to donate items can drop them at the store during these hours. Come and check it out. There is something for everyone with new items arriving weekly.
The Yard Sale Store has something for everyone, and we are very grateful to owner Mark Barry, of the Plaster Rock Guardian Drugstore, for graciously allowing the SPCA to use it!

Local volunteers manage the store, organizing the goods and making sure everything is useable. If you visit the yard sale you’ll find

Got too much clutter in your attic or garage? Give the SPCA a call at 356- 1117. Your old stuff will find a new home and provide much needed help for our homeless pets!
