Last fall local Perth business people created the Perth-Andover Business Connection in order to promote local mall businesses and to bring awareness to the need for us all to think local in order for our communities to thrive.
The official kick-off was held on Saturday, June 28th with local merchants around town offering special deals during the day.
Volunteers set up a barbecue downtown on Perth Main Street and handed out free hot dogs and nifty promotional items from 11 am until 1:30 pm, when a thunderstorm broke out and chased everyone indoors.
The Larlee Creek Hullabaloo committee has a new office on Main Street where they were selling passes to the concert at a great discount for this one day only. You could pick up a pass for a whole weekend of terrific Maritime Music for only $50!
Victoria Villa hosted an all day open house. This assisted living seniors apartment facility is in the process of adding two new apartments and will soon be certified as a special care home.
All small, independent businesses in our villages need the support of their communities in order to thrive and grow.
Folks naturally want to save money, so they shop across the border or travel to big box stores to economize.
This may seem to make sense, but when people take their business out of town they reduce the prosperity of their own community.
To rebuild our businesses and communities we all need to Think Local First! If saving a few bucks in the short term by shopping out of town means losing more local jobs and businesses, is the price really worth it?
Shop Local! The village you save will be your own!
