Typical baskets of fresh produce from the program
Many people these days are making an effort to eat more fresh foods and produce. The Tobique Valley Food Purchasing Group offers local residents a regular supply of fresh produce and helps save money at the same time.

The program is open to all who are interested, and offers a terrific model for other communities interested in providing a similar service for their residents. There’s power in numbers!

Getting a basket of produce this way also inspires us to cook foods we might not have considered otherwise.
These days it’s so easy to grab pre-made food at the stores nearly all prepared food items these days contain genetically modified organisms.

Especially, anything with soy, corn and canola oil in it is a GMO food.

Soy and canola (made from rapeseed) has been modified to withstand huge does of glyphosate, the active ingredient in the weed killer “Roundup”. This toxic chemical has now been recognized as one of the deadliest pesticides ever created.
This poison can be found in nearly 100 percent of all babies born in North America, who have absorbed it from their mothers.
Researchers are connecting this pesticide with a whole host of human health issues, including autism and Alzheimer’s.
Corn deserves its own special mention. This crop has been hijacked by Monsanto, the “most evil corporation on Earth”, to contain insecticide toxins right in the kernels themselves.

It kills insects by destroying their digestive systems. I don’t know about you, but that doesn’t sound like anything I want to eat!

All commercial food products that contain corn oil or high fructose corn syrup contain this toxin, including soda pop and prepared juices.
GMOs are so prevalent in our food that it’s hard to avoid them…but you’ll get a head start by cooking your own food from scratch with fresh produce!
