Moving On

Moving On

The parking lot was full today
And along both sides the road
A tribute, in a trifling way
To the seeds that someone sowed,
He didn’t want to go inside
In there he’d be – a gap
And so he stood outside the door
And respectfully removed his cap,
The organ notes were soft and smooth
As clear as the cloudless sky
‘Will The Circle Be Unbroken’
‘In The Sweet By And By’
Like the artificial flowers
Pretty things – that had no smell
He wondered if a life like them
Could save a soul from hell,
Another song, and it’d be over
All said – all done – all gone
He waited ’til he heard “Amen!”
Then – he too … moved on!
