A new artisan’s co-operative store is in the process of opening on Perth Main Street.
Pam McPhail has turned the empty store that was once home to Checkers Pizza, which was sadly lost in the flood, into a center for local artists, crafters, and artisans to have an affordable public venue in which to display and sell their goods.
This is the realization of an idea and dream that she’s had percolating for awhile. The co-op will provide all kinds of artisans a way to display their works in a store with regular business hours so that many more people will be able to see the products.

Rent, power bills and clerking work for the space will be divided among the artisans. The beauty of this plan is that artists can safely display their wares full time to the public without disrupting their regular work schedule.

Co-op members can also opt to pay a commission on sales instead of working in the store as a sales clerk.
Artists have responded enthusiastically to this opportunity and, so far, the center has attracted a photographer, a painter, a number of fibre and fabric crafters including a weaver, and a wood worker.

The store will be open Monday through Saturday 10-6, and possibly on Sundays as Christmas approaches.
There are many lovely, unique and hand made gifts to be had here for all your special someones for this holiday season!

Why not make it a truly local Christmas this year by giving gifts that were created by a local artist….
If you are an artisan seeking an outlet for your crafts and art call Pam McPhail at 273-2504.
