Facebook, Fascists & Fools

Last week in the state of Virginia Marine veteran Brandon Raub was arrested and detained for psychiatric evaluation because of things he had said on his Facebook page.
Apparently he had made some rather incendiary comments that reflected his utter disgust with the crooks in government who have been running and ruining the world.
So the FBI stepped in and hauled him off to spend 30 days in the nuthouse without any official charges being laid.

This should scare the heck out of all of us.
Fortunately a sane person, circuit judge W. Allan Sharett, presided over his hearing and said that the involuntary commitment order issued by a magistrate against Raub was invalid “because it contained no allegation or basis to hold him.”
So Brandon is now once again a free man. But what happened to Raub is a sobering lesson for us all. It happened in the US, it is true, but the ruling elite of the USA have been getting crazier by the minute as more and more of their lies and thievery get exposed every day and their craziness affects us all.

The entire population of the planet has been controlled and ruled by simply keeping us in the dark. Remember, those who know the least obey the best.
And we’ve all been busy obeying our laws, naively trusting that our governments have had our best interests at heart, when in actuality they’ve been playing us for patsies.

Money, which began as a way to represent true goods and services and to expedite trade and barter…is now a tool to enslave us.

One of the heroes Raub listed in his essay is Smedley Darlington Butler. Butler was one of the greatest generals who ever served in the US Marine Corps. Few people know about him today, but in his time (1881-1940) he was one of the best known and most respected men in the United States.
He was a Major General in the Marine Corps, an outspoken critic of US military adventurism, and at the time of his death, was the most decorated Marine in US history.
During his service he was awarded the Medal of Honor twice, Marine Corps Brevet Medal and the Distinguished Service Medal. In all, he received 16 medals, 5 of them for heroism.

He also penned one of the best anti-war treatises ever written: “War is a Racket.”
The text of this book can be read online and is well worth your time….even back during the First World War Butler was perfectly aware that the US Military had become a tool to protect and expand corporate interests.
In the same way that our young people today are supposed to be “fighting the war on terror” when in reality, they are killing and dying to protect big oil interests.

In 1934 Butler was approached by purported representatives of a several wealthy industrialists. He was offered wealth and status if he’d lead a march of the hundreds of thousands of veterans, who all loved and trusted him, in a military coup against FDR so the Robber Barons could install a fascist government with the dictator of their choice.
Military coups were all the rage, so they thought the US could use one too.

We regard Hitler and fascism with abhorrence today, but Hitler was widely respected among certain factions back then , especially among many of the wealthy elites, for his ruthless and profitable efficiency. Those slave camps made the industrialists lots and lots of lovely lucre. And killing and looting tends to be profitable for the victors as well.
Fascism is a great form of government….if you’re a rich psychopath!

I had an eye opening experience myself about this issue a couple of years ago. I had just gotten a new book about Smedley Butler titled “Devil Dog.” It is a beautifully illustrated history of Butler and his many heroic achievements. I showed it to a woman I knew over in the US and began relating Butler’s story, and I explained about the plot to take over the Whitehouse. One of the conspirators had said to Butler “that Hitler fella sure knows what he’s doing. Those slave camps are making a fortune and putting everyone to work.” That quote scared the bejeezus out of me, frankly, but when I repeated it to my acquaintance she thought it was a brilliant way to put “welfare bums” to work! She loved the idea!

It’s a sad statement about the state of our so-called civilization when our own peers are willing to put their fellow men in slave camps because they don’t like their work ethic!

Butler pretended to go along with the scheme as he collected evidence. He then presented the evidence of this treasonous plot to FDR and a Hearing Committee. The men involved were of such high social standing that the event was barely mentioned in the papers in order to not create a panic.

It was the middle of the Great Depression, and the war drums were beating in Europe.
As Butler had never met any of the principals in the plot to seize the Whitehouse, only the intermediaries, the industrialists all denied any involvement.
Also at that time another Robber Baron, William Randolph Hearst, owned nearly every paper in the US. He controlled virtually all the news that Americans read. So he certainly did not publicize this story!

We have the same situation today…all the major news sources in the world are owned by 4 or 5 corporations. And they sure aren’t running any campaigns for social justice or economic equality!
Ultimately and unfortunately for the rest of us, they got their fascist government anyway in the form of the Corporations and Banks who are ruling the world today.
Brandon Raub publicly expressed his disgust and very nearly got thrown in jail for speaking up.
